IVIg Infusion #3

Got to the infusion center promptly @ 8:15am this morning.  As I walked in, the reception area was overwhelmed with patients.  The front desk receptionist looked a little busy.  Main problem being is people don’t do the online check-in, which caused a domino effect of delays today.  I went to the same room I had last time, however, I sat there till 9am.  After a short wait, the nurse came in, put my IV in, and got me started at 9:10am. As we started my blood pressure was a bit high, as well as my temperature, but we continued regardless.  The pump started at the usual 30mL/hr, and increased 30mL/hr every 15 minutes.

Today my infusion went without any major problems, however, I will say the burning behind the eyes feeling really set in once I hit my target infusion rate of 120mL/hr. I was able to “tolerate” it ok outside of it just really giving me a “hug”, my whole body just felt frozen, and slow.  Since I was able to make it through the infusion at a pretty high rate, my infusion was done at 12:45pm.
After my infusion, a friend and I decided it would be a good idea to hit a movie afterwards.  Finally got to see Endgame.  Avoiding spoilers, and the internet in general for an entire week was a daunting task, however, the movie was amazing!  It was a nice closure to a very long running movie series franchise.
As I type this I will say I am absolutely wiped out.  I haven’t felt so tired in a long time, but this is necessary to my recovery.  The IVIg side effects aren’t fun, but the benefits by far outweigh the negatives at this point.  Hopefully tomorrow I’ll feel more like “myself”, and have more energy.  Hopefully next week I will return to work being in the office.  I am definitely going to be bringing the mask with, as I am sure most co-workers will have something.  I know the first thing I will be doing at my desk, and that is wiping down every square inch of it.  I am looking forward to it however, I need to get out of the house, its been a long time coming.
