Ugh. I don’t even know how to describe how utterly terrible my week has been. Probably the worst week I’ve experienced in a long time.
For the past week, week & a half I have been experiencing sharp stabbing pains where Fred called home. It literally feels like someone is stabbing me repeatedly with an ice pick. On top of that the overall “beaten” feeling has returned. My face keeps getting these strange hot flashes that come and go. It’s weird.
Before the surgery, the left side of my neck & jaw has been swelling. Just getting poofy, and dull pains under my jaw. This past Wednesday I went to get my teeth cleaned (way fucking overdue btw). The hygienist took a look at what I though were swollen parotid and submandular salivary glands, and she agreed after examining them. She abviously can’t provide a diagnosis, but she strongly urged me to go see my ENT sooner rather than later. The cleaning went without issue, however I just felt like absolute garbage afterwards. After being home for an hour I got sick to my stomach and threw up. Fuck.
The pain in my neck has progressively gotten worse, so I had my ENT’s NP take a look at it as I have been getting pretty concerned about it. I sat feeing miserable in the waiting room as they crammed me in last-minute (they rock). After a short wait, the NP popped in the room, always in a great mood. Unexpectedly, she said let’s get some schmootz out of your nose shall we? You did it again. No painkillers you idiot. I thought we were just going to look at my swollen neck, but I guess. This time, no numbing spray, just Afrin. It wasn’t “as bad” as last time, however, this was fucking painful. Utilizing her scope and tools, she pulled out 4-5 Fred Jr.’s out. At this point my head is just banging, the icepick feeling is now permanently hitting me. Goddamn so much pain. From what she said I was healing surprisingly well with all the trauma I have been through, I was clotting correctly, and that I look better than the last time she took a look.
After that, she took a look and felt the glands and agreed that I definitely have an infection going on within my salivary glands. More antibiotics (yuck) and steroids (sigh). The infection feels weird. It’s against my throat in the corner where your neck and jaw meet. It just hurts and generally feels pissed off and uncomfortable. I hope the medication helps / kicks in soon. I really need to start feeling better soon. I could really use a break from all this.
The perpetual cycle of pain just sucks 🙁
