As we moved into the new apartment. I noticed we had an ice maker in the fridge. Haven’t had that “option” since Naperville. As we’ve been moving into the new place, one thing we kept noticing is this weird water spots that kept showing up in the kitchen.
We ran the dishwasher once, and this strange crap showed up the next day. We also noticed that the dishwasher rack wasn’t “right”.
I then started noticing the baseboard that wrapped around the refrigerator was warping, and cracking. With everything I noticed, plus with my bloodwork looking like shit again, it dawned on me. It’s water damage, but from where? Only 2 places it could be, the waterline to the fridge, or the dishwasher. I immediately shut off of the icemaker, and opened a ticket with the property.
After opening the ticket, I sent pictures in, along with my immunologists letter. I had someone at our door within 3 minutes. The property manager knows my condition. She knows about us suing Parc. She knows I’m dead serious.
But they immediately came. The maintenance staff here are so different than Parc’s. They know what they’re doing. They have the tools to do the job. He immediately pulled the fridge out and saw the extensive damage behind it. Left to go get his water meter. Almost 100% of the kitchen floor was soaked. The baseboard around the fridge was fucked, drywall too.
So he left to get a tornado blower and a big dehumidifier. This was all done within an hour. He started treating out all the baseboard and some of the drywall. Said he would be back tomorrow to tear out the entire wall, and all the flooring.
This property is taking me as their #1 priority. 100% seriously making an effort to make things right. They know that mold will fuck me up beyond anything else.
We ran the blower until 3am. We kicked the cats out of the bedroom so we could sleep while it ran, but all 3 were sitting at the door crying, so we shut off the blower and let them come in the bedroom.
Today I assume he will be back to access all the damage. The flooring will definitely need to be replaced. The edging is all starting to curl up. I’m just glad we caught this before it got to moldville.
The property is responsive and taking everything serious. Unlike Parc, where the maintenance guys would come in with no tools. Have difficulty in communicating with what needed to be done. That fucking place did the bare minimum.
Bell is different. I’m glad we are here. I know they will make this right, and do whatever it takes to keep us safe.
So hopefully when I return from ketamine today, they will have everything torn out, flooring included. Address the dishwasher issues, replace the fridge water line, and make all the necessary repairs.
I don’t need to be living in yet another mold infested apartment, and I know Bell is I’ll make things right, and do the right thing.
I’m not moving again. No fucking way. I have faith that they will resolve this quickly. I’m just glad they are taking this 100% serious, vs Parc just blowing us off.
Today I’ll call the property manager and ask them to hire Envirospec to come in and do their mold testing post-repair.
As well all know now, mold is my fucking kryptonite. I cannot be around Alternaria, Aspergillus, or Cladosporium. Another few woult be Fusarium, and Epicoccum. The one nobody wants to be around is Stachybotrys. That shit is a level 5 with me.
I haven’t come this far, to just get out into yet another hazard. But I know the property will make it right.
My luck is the absolute worst.
