So since my last post, I had a followup appointment with my ENT, and wow, finally convinced him there is still a lingering issue in my sinuses. From my previous post, I had mentioned that I had a PET scan done. From the results of the PET scan, the infection that was seen on the right side of my maxillary sinus (right cheek) showed an infection sort of off on its own encapsulated within itself. Finally. The reason why I feel like crap, run fevers off and on, and just blah.
Unfortunately with all this COVID stuff going on, surgeries were only for priority/emergencies only. But from what my ENT told me, that the surgery is an 8/10 priority… needs to be done. So I have been patiently waiting for almost 2 months now, and they finally opened up elective surgeries here in Denver. So on the 22nd I will be heading in to get another sinus surgery done, and hopefully the final one to correct whatever the hell infected my head gone.
On the implant front, I am still missing the lower right implant because of the infection from last year. I am hopeful that within the next month my implantologist will be willing and able to reinstall that, as well as eradicate the remaining teeth on the upper.
I will officially have no teeth left. And I’m actually looking forward to it. I have had non stop dental issues my entire life. The past 5 years its gotten to the point it has, and honestly I wish I got rid of them sooner. I am pretty sure that the dentist I had prior did enough damage, but I am thankful I was able to find competent doctors here that reversed some of the damage that the other dentist had done.
On the COVID front, I just find it strangely awkward that the mass population is now living the type of lifestyle I’ve been forced to adopt over the past 2 years. I can definitely say its not easy however, with this virus still out there, people are really showing that they really don’t care. I am not surprised in the least. I am hopeful that I can get the sinus surgery and implants done before summer really goes into full swing so that maybe I can enjoy going out for once. I’ve been a recluse since my first hospitalization, but if this virus is still lingering, I’ll just wait it out. Whats another couple months right?
On the immune front, my IgG has reached the 1200’s after upping my IVIg dosage to 60g. I have been talking to my immunologist, and we might start moving me to SCIg. Now really the only difference with that is its still IG therapy, however, it becomes a weekly type of treatment, but can be done out of the comfort of my home. No more need to go in and get IV pumped for 4 hours, I can just sit on the couch and do it subcutaneously. So hopefully maybe after the COVID stuff calms down we can make the change there.
Overall things are starting to look a little brighter and turn around for once. I’ll update again once my surgery is done.
