Further data

As the weeks have gone by, things have become more and more clear. The acrylic sample obtained from the lab was negative, as well as a zirconia sample. The titanium was irritating to have on my back. But hopefully that’s it.

I returned back to the guy that put my implants in. This time, I wasn’t accepting his typical song & dance and “I dont know”. It started off differently as I was straightforward in telling him that I am overly disappointed in how my case has been handled. I started explaining in detail recanting the past year. The failed implant. The constant pain, burning, and swelling I have endured. When I started speaking, to my surprise he was captive. For once. Actually listening to what I had to say.

Started talking about how I had appointments with him monthly. Complaining about the same stuff over and over. I then started to talk to him about the allergy testing and what the results where. Seeing that I’m allergic to cobalt and gold, there is most likely more.

I am not one to give up so easily. I then told him that we need to do something instead of just sitting around doing nothing. I told him that I had spoken to his lab about the prosthesis. Confirmed it was made of cobalt. The abutments. Smoking gun?  Oh there’s more.

I had it removed, but the issues persisted. However, his office decided to put healing caps in. With metal screws. Unknown metal.

Nothing like the blind leading the blind. I seriously hate people who assume. Fuck you.

I returned a week later swelling again. But now it’s starting to move to my jaw. And neck. Scary stuff. When I started using the words life threatening, and anaphylaxis, it caught their attention.

As I sat there explaining all the factual data pointing towards an allergy to whatever is in my mouth, demanded removal of the abutments and retaining screws. This would just leave the implants.

For the record, the abutments and screws are a titanium alloy. Alloys are not pure. They are mixed with other elements. The implants themselves are made of grade 4 non-alloy pure titanium.

After the removal, fuck what a difference. The pain I felt, the pressure, the burning, just feeling everything, has started to subside. I am shocked. It’s taken a year to figure this out. You mean to tell me I had to spend $20k to determine that I have a severe allergy to metals?  What are the fucking odds.

Vaping probably didn’t help.  The coils are made from shitty metals. That’s probably what started all of this. It’s fine. I’m done with all that anyway.

It’s now been about 4 days, and the swelling that was in my cheeks, jaw, neck, and nose has started to go down. I did see a new ENT who gave me prednisone to help with the swelling. It’s nice to know that I can talk to doctors now to get them to pay attention. I’m not just going to sit here and let them just “do their thing”. I have lost 100% faith in doctors seeing as how I have had to literally figure all this out on my own.

Tomorrow I see a holistic dentist to talk about going 100% metal free. All zirconia. This is inclusive of the implants themselves, the multi-unit abutments, retaining screws, abutments on the prosthesis, and the prosthesis itself. Seeing as how it’s hypoallergenic to humans, it’s what I should have done from the getgo, but again, that’s what I get for just trying to get this done.

I’m sure this will probably cost $30k. It’s sickening, but now I have the answers I’ve been desperately trying to find.

Maybe this is the bottom of the stairs.
