Yesterday showed my Vancomycin trough level to be dangerously high. I was in the 50’s. So I held my vancomycin all day yesterday. Had labs again, and it’s dropped to 27.
My visit this morning with infectious disease was just labs. Hopefully the vancomycin trough continues to drop. Because too much of it can cause serious issues.
My WBC is now dangerously high at 20.1, and my CRP is 40. So my body is definitely dealing with an infection.
I told infectious disease that vancomycin is hard to manage and it’s not easy to stay on track with consistent dosing. Yes. I was doing it every 12 hours. But when we stepped up to 2g daily, something didn’t feel right. My troughs were fine up until last week.
So I’ll wait for labs tomorrow to see where we go with this. If we wait too long, I’m probably headed towards another septic episode.
They wanted to access my port again, but I told them it’s pointless if I’m not doing IV antibiotics.
LabCorp also pulled the posaconazole levels yesterday and they even messed them up…. So they wrote orders to get them pulled at Quest diagnostics. I don’t see how they can keep fucking this lab up.
I’m heading off to cardio rehab today. I think it’s just orientation. I’ll tell them about what’s going on, and maybe we hold off for a bit until we get this infection under better control.
That’s it for now.
Infectious disease did call me back later saying they are holding all IV Antibiotics until Hepworth/Kaufman can come up with this Indium 111 Tagged White Blood Cell scan. I’m quite sure my face, and neck will light up like crazy.
