Today I called into Klarisana if they received the paperwork from Prism, and as expected, pain management signed off on the use in their care.
Thank. Fucking. God.
But I was running behind and had to call back later. I must have hit every stop light, person that couldn’t drive, and traffic to infectious disease. I’m rarely late. To anything. Today is the day.
But I guess they had a staff meeting so it didn’t matter. I explained the past 7 days of the dalbavancin treatment and how I felt. The nurse took notes. She even commented how much smaller my face looked. I did tell her straight up, that my next week appointment, that we need to do another dose of dalbavancin… It’s working. I won’t accept no as an answer anymore. I also told them that after September 5th, we can pull my PICC line. I’m just tired of having this fucking thing in my arm.
It will be interesting to see Kaufmanns reaction next week. I’m pretty sure she is fully on board with helping me now. She seemed to be on the fence when they pulled me off of the daptomycin, but when my blood work went south 3 weeks after, plus all of my culture results, it was an easy sell.
Why the fuck do I have to “sell” doctors to get help. That aspect throughout this entire endeavor just is mind boggling. I’m just thankful that I am getting help finally. But the damage is definitely done.
But when it came to drawing labs, my 20 minute appointment turned into 3 hours. This fucking PICC line I swear has clotted non-stop since they placed it. So we tried to TPA it (clot buster), twice, no joy.
Ended up sticking me in the hand to get the labs. Getting poked has worn out it’s welcome. God I fucking hate it.
I had the nurse redraw my IGM, I’m quite interested in this aspect of what’s going on with me. Everytime I get the right antibiotics, it goes up. So the hope tomorrow when labs post is that it’s unchanged or higher than last week. It’s clear data that proves it’s the right antibiotic.
Since I was waiting for the TPA, which takes up to an hour per dose, I got my ketamine appointments all setup. 6 sessions spread across 3 weeks. They were quite booked up. Originally I was supposed to do 3 sessions per week, but how this shook out was the best I could do.
Thankfully I calculated this in for my return to work, which hopefully if approved, will be 9/25.
