Since it’s going to be public knowledge to them soon, I don’t feel it’s necessary to keep it locked down anymore. The property did send us a check for $1,800 for “Security Deposit Refund”. Cashing this won’t constitute any type of settlement since we didn’t sign a release.

Yesterday we found more contaminated items. We ended up having to throw away our nespresso machine. Coffee just wasn’t tasting right. Every time I would have my daily coffee binge, by about the 2nd cup, my mouth would start burning, which once again, I put two plus two together about it being contaminated. I’ve been. EXTREMELY religious about keeping it descaled, and clean. So we ended up having to get another one. The coffee tasted completely different. as I was throwing out the old one, I took it apart (with rubber gloves), and there were mold spore sac’s all over the inside. Not in the internal water tank, but everywhere else.
Our Brita water pitcher over time would always start to have this greenish tint/discoloration with the “filtered” water. We would just clean it out and move on. I noticed that when we got to the new place, the top lid where you’d pour water in was discoloring. So I just moved this into the contaminated pile. New one is better since the lid has to open outwards, vs the other one where the lid would go downwards when you would fill it with water. Every time we used to fill it up, Athena would play with the lid. But not with this one.
Last week I finally got my haircut since the STEMI. I’ve been keeping up with keeping the sides of my head shaved, but the middle/mohawk part was just getting long. It was back to the old length from the nightclub days. Theresa (my stylist I’ve been going to FOREVER) took off probably 4 inches. The next morning, when I was physically returning to the office, I got out of the shower and started doing my hair.
In order to get it to stand up straight, a hairdryer is needed to help stand it up. The minute I started to use it, I could feel my eyes burning, as well as my throat tightening up. After I was done, I looked at the intake, and I was so disgusted. It was blackish/yellowish/greenish. I immediately threw it out. I wasn’t going to argue with Anies. It had to go. So we ended up having to replace it later that night. As an experiment, I shot the hairdryer into the Dyson my uncle got:
I’m so tired of finding these hidden landmines that continue to haunt me. I’m so sensitive to the point where I immediately start to have an allergic reaction. I guess that’s a good thing. At least it’s not reaching to the point where I need to use my epi pen. If you’ve ever used one, A) The needle sucks B) The next 20 minutes, your body is in full DEFCON 1 mode. Everything is on high alert. After that, you start to “come down”. The severe exhaustion, and emotional swings you go through (no not anger) are the worst.
We started using our Eufy robovac again since Anies has gotten most of the apartment put together (minus the spare bedroom). As it would run, I would again, smell this weird musty output from it. When it’s done, it will dock with the auto-emptier, and it pulls the crap the robovac picked up. That’s when I would tell that this was contaminated. The same feelings as the hairdryer, but more subtle, but I couldn’t ignore it. So I ended up having to order another one. Until the replacement comes, I disabled the auto-scheduled cleaning sessions, enabled the child lock (since the cats CONSTANTLY mess with it and turn it on), and lastly unplugged the base station so that it won’t fire off. The replacement should be here by next week.
The jury is still out on the main vacuum cleaner that we JUST bought before we moved. It does have 2 HEPA filters, on intake/exhaust, so we “might” be safe there, but we will have to see. I may have to have Anies run the vacuum next to the Dyson to see if it’s leaking any contaminants.
So we can tack on yet another $1100 for more expenses related to the mold exposure / contamination the “mold remediation” crew caused when they were attempting to fix the mold in the outer wall. If you don’t remember:
Again, they protected nothing. The apartment, our belongings, and not even themselves.
I’m hopeful that this is the last of the contaminated possessions we moved. Let’s not forget the 2 air purifiers we had to throw out that cost $650 each, 1 which did come with to the new apartment. I still feel like a fucking dumbass for bring the other one thinking that just changing all the filters was “good enough”. So let this be a warning to whoever reads this. Once an item becomes contaminated, there’s really no way to 100% guarantee it’s “clean”. Just throw it out, and replace it.
