So I spent a pretty good amount of time between Thursday till this morning compiling a list of apartments that both Anies and I needed to go see today. We started out at 11am, going through the list of places.
First place we went to needed an appointment, so we made it for 1:30pm. We moved on to a place down on Inverness. This place immediately became the primary place to go to. The apartment was nice, clean, and checked all the boxes. Only downside was, it’s $200 more a month than where we are at now.
We had to run home to pickup my Vancomycin, but by the time we got to the other place we needed an appointment. It was time. Unfortunately, for the money they were asking, and being a 3rd floor apartment, it got pulled off the list. I got to the second floor and just ran out of energy.
As we left, the actual apartment that we were supposed to go to was across the street. It dawned on me that we just simply went to the wrong place.
We signed up, and got a tour in about 20 minutes. This place also checked all the boxes. Outer door of the apartment isn’t actually outside. Garage parking. And it’s $2100 a month. Built within this century. The assistant manager was very helpful.
When we left we were down to 2 apartments to choose from. We returned back to the place on Inverness and wanted to just look at a 1BR apartment that’s the same square footage as where we are at now, but we just didn’t like it.
So as we drove away, I made it Anies decision on which place we choose. We ended up deciding on the other place we went to. Apartment is on the 1st floor. It just works for what we need. Our health being the #1 concern. Yeah. It’s more than what we are paying now, but we need to live in a clean, and environmentally safe place.
We got home, and did the application. So the apartment is “held” until our background checks are done, which is fine. Won’t be a problem there. We have a $1300 credit where we live now, so I’ll just pay with a credit card to satisfy the rent at the current apartment, save the cash for a cashiers check for the new place. That way we can secure the new place and let the other apartment know once we vacate.
Monday, I’ll have to get that attorney to write a letter to the current apartment about what’s about to go down. I don’t see a reason why they won’t let us out. They fucked up big. They know they did. They haven’t sent their silly “settlement” agreement either like they were supposed to.
I’ll also hire Envirospec to come back out and retest the apartment. The post mold check they did still shows mold here, but I want a detailed report as ammo. It’s quite clear there is still something here that affecting everyone here. The damage is done.
Hopefully 2024 will be a better year for everyone.
