So earlier this week I pulled the 5 alarm fire with my ENT who performed the Mastoidectomies the past 2 years. I had an appointment scheduled for late next week, but this couldn’t wait. Pus is still coming out of the incision area and from behind my ear. It stings, it really hurts, and it’s not going away.
So his team was able to get me fast tracked in today. As he came in, he dove right in. He is 100% on board with the continuing infection. He totally agrees with the physical as well as the systemic symptoms I’m feeling. Case in point, the hearing in my left ear has still not recovered to satisfactory levels. I’m still missing most of the low end of the spectrum.
As he sat me back in the chair, he immediately saw the areas of concern, and started to go to work. I opted to not have any local anesthetic, as if you have an infection, the last thing you want to do is inject lidocaine into the area. #1 it hurts like no tomorrow, #2, it could potentially taint/contaminate anything that would come out for culture.
He started with the left side. All the issues are post-auricular (behind my ear). He found a considerable amount of pus found within the earlobe itself, as well as the concha (thin part of the back of the ear), and the incision site. He spent a good 15 minutes slowly removing tissue, and inflamed skin. Best part is, we culture everything. Everything will go to the lab and be looked at from a bacterial growth perspective and pathology (under a microscope). He did remove a good amount of “cheese-like” material. He said that it was good that I came in, as the entire rear portion of my ear was inflamed.
Then I asked him to take a look at the right side, as I’ve been feeling the same thing on that side as well. So he shifted to the right side, and sure enough, same thing. Removed a considerable amount of “cheese-like” infection, which was collected and sent off to LabCorp.
After the chair returned to the upright position, is said that he will absolutely contact infectious disease and let them know that I need to go back on IV antibiotics. He said that due to my immune disorder, my immune system isn’t mounting any type of defense against the foreign invader that has clearly made a home in my face, neck, jaw, and ears.
As I was driving home, a weird number was calling my phone. Usually I don’t answer, but I decided fuck it, I’m in a good mood. I answered, and it was Dr. Dobbs’ office. He’s one of the only Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons that’s in network with Anthem. Probably 8 months ago I put in a request to be seen, but this guy books out a crazy amount of time. I did it anyway, but I must have forgotten about it.
Next Wednesday, I go see him. I need an oral surgeon to remove the infection along my jaw line. Every doctor I’ve seen has dismissed me, even though I was exhibiting physical symptoms. X-ray looks fine, move alone. Thing is, it’s not in the bone. It’s in the tissue along the outside of the jawbone. You can seriously feel it / see it. It’s all the leftover damage from dumbass Pomeranz and his botched implant placement. Hopefully I can get him to agree to debridement of the areas I need addressed.
